About This Project

The owners of this garden requested a series of informal ‘rooms’ for the main garden, which did not compromise the views and feeling of space.  They requested to retain the greenhouse, vegetable  garden and pond in the same location.  The design is inspired by the surrounding rural location and the client’s love of music and nature.

The main garden is a series of ‘open rooms’ that seamlessly retains the greenhouse, pond and vegetable garden within the new design whilst simultaneously, providing new areas of interest in the main garden.  Seating areas punctuate the garden ‘rooms’ offering opportunity for social gatherings or quiet contemplation with favourite carefully framed views.

The lower meadow is accessed via a small set of steps which connect the main garden and lower meadow.  A distinct series of mown footpaths effortlessly guide the visitor through the meadow to the lower meadow pond.

A rich seasonal planting palette, of specimen trees, native plants and native style plants, has been selected for their beauty, strength of colour and contribution to the ecology of the area.  To mention a few; Quercus rubra : Quercus robur : Aesculus hipppocastanum : Rosa canina : Achillea millefolium : Sedum spectabile : Hyssop officinalis : Iris : Dipsacus fullonum
